Oval and on six leaf and paw feet, connected by foliage swags, the detachable fluted canopy on six baluster columns with acanthus scroll capitals, with fluted borders and husk rim with a finial cast as a figure of Victory, the base with a cast figure of Apollo, engraved twice with a coat-of-arms, the canopy engraved with a crest, marked on top and bottom rim, on bezel of canopy, the central figure apparently unmarked

The arms are those of Prescott impaling Serjeantson, for General Robert Prescott (1726/27-1815) and his wife Susanna Serjeantson (d.1817) whom he married in 1765. He joined the army in 1745. As A.D.C. to Major General Amherst he was part of the advance force which moved on Montreal in 1760. He was posted to Martinique in 1762 and on the outbreak of the American War of Independence he was appointed Lieutenant Colonel of the 28th regiment of foot and took part in numberous engagements. In the French Revoluntionary wars he captured Martinique and was made governor. He then became Governor of Guadeloupe and then in 1796 governor of Lower Canada, becoming later in that year governor in chief and commander of British forces in North America. He was recalled to England in 1799, although he served as Governor until 1807, dying in his 89th year near Battle in Sussex in 1815.
