Shaped ovoid, the sides each cast with a panel depicting figures in landscapes on a textured ground, the detachable cover with a threaded finial, with a suspension chain

Lot Essay

An unmarked snuff-box engraved with the arms of Goddard and decorated in a similar chinoiserie fashion was sold Sotheby's London, 31 October 1974, lot 153 and is illustrated in V. Brett, The Sotheby's Directory of Silver 1600-1940, London, 1986, p. 160, no. 627.
