The present vase is unusual in the predominant use of blue in the flambé glaze. Most vases of this pomegranate shape are covered with a dark red glaze with blue and purple highlights, such as the Qianlong example illustrated by J. Ayers, The Baur Collection, Geneva, vol. 3, 1974, no. A291; and the Jiaqing version, sold in these Rooms, 27 October 2003, lot 710.
