Each with octagonal boxwood-inlaid top on a turned tapering shaft with urn-shaped stem, on moulded cabriole legs with pointed pad feet, the underside with oval metal label impressed 'L', repairs to base of column

Provenance
Supplied to the Hon. Mrs Leigh for Stoneleigh Abbey, Warwickshire, by either Michael Thackthwaite or Daniel Frost in the 1780's, and by descent.

Lot Essay

These tables may have either been supplied by Michael Thackthwaite or Daniel Frost, both of whom supplied furniture for Mrs Leigh in the 1780's for Stoneleigh.
A closely related pair of George III octagonal occasional tables was sold by the Earl of Shaftesbury from St Giles's House, Dorset, Christie's, London, 26 June 1980, lot 51. The latter featured the same column with vase stem but with downswept legs with spade feet.
