The distinctive feature of the elongated cusped quatrefoil seen on the legs of this card-table, with the exaggerated angle brackets may suggest an attribution to 'The Wentworth Cabinet-Maker', Richard Wright & Edward Elwick (see Christie's, London, Wentworth, sale catalogue, 8 July 1998, pp. 110-111). Large scale 'flying' angle brackets were employed by Wright & Elwick on a dressing-table attributed to them also included as lot 63 in the Wentworth sale.

A closely related table was sold anonymously, Sotheby's, London, 6 May 1988, lot 68.
