3 volumes, folio (404 x 271mm). 2 colour-printed frontispieces, 49 colour-printed plates, one monochrome frontispiece and numerous monochrome illustrations, some full-page. (Occasional very light spotting, principally affecting the versos of the colour plates but not the images.) Original green cloth gilt, upper boards with gilt borders and titles, lower boards with blind-ruled borders, spines lettered in gilt, top edges gilt (extremities lightly rubbed).
