TWO NEAR EASTERN TERRACOTTA FIGURES
CIRCA EARLY 2ND MILLENNIUM B.C.
Including a North Syrian bearded figure, hand-modelled, seated on an integral stool, the legs together, the arms bent at the elbows and held at his waist, wearing a high conical hat, with a prominent nose, deeply recessed pellet eyes and fringed beard, wearing an applied and stippled collar, the circular breasts also applied; and an Old Babylonian plaque molded in the form of a bearded god, standing with his legs together, his right arm at his side, holding a curved implement, either a weapon or palm branch, his left arm bent across his waist, clad in a short kilt, wearing a long rectangular beard and a patterned headdress with a raised brim
