AN ATTIC RED-FIGURED OINOCHOE (SHAPE 8A, CHOUS)
ATTRIBUTED TO THE PAINTER OF BERLIN 2268, CIRCA 510 B.C.
With three nude athletes crouching on a reserved groundline, a diskos thrower at the center facing right, kneeling with his left knee down, his heel lifted, the diskos in the hand of his extended right arm, the left arm extending behind, the muscles of his back rendered, his face angled downward and partially obscured by his right shoulder, a jumper to either side, each facing left, stepping forward on to the right leg, the left knee down, holding halteres or jumping weights, their arms straight and extended forward, both with their heads angled down and partially obscured by their left shoulders, an aryballos and sponge hanging above, a triangular area of the handle left reserved, the underside with a raised reserved ring
