AN ATTIC RED-FIGURED CHOUS
ATTRIBUTED TO THE TARQUINIA PAINTER, CIRCA 460 B.C.
With a youth standing beside a horse, both in profile to the left, the youth nude but for a chlamys draped over his right shoulder and around his left arm, his penis tied with a kynodesme, his right arm reaching forward toward the horse's reins, his left hand gripping the length of the reins, depicted in added red, the horse with its right legs slightly advanced, standing together on a thick groundline; a band of enclosed palmettes along the neck, a single enclosed palmette at the join of the ridged handle to the mouth, graffiti on the underside of the foot, AX
