A GREEK BRONZE HANDLE
HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA LATE 4TH-3RD CENTURY B.C.
From an oinochoe, the shaft with beading along the three ribs, terminating below in a frontally-faced Siren, her sickle-shaped wings outspread, her tail feathers fanning below her U-shaped body, the feathering along the wings and scales along the body finely incised, her human head with the eyes inlaid in silver, her long tresses falling on to her shoulders, the handle flanged along the upper end to join to the vessel, traces of silver or tin overlay throughout
