John Kendell is listed in C.Gilbert The Dictionary of English Furniture-Makers 1660-1840, Leeds, 1986. The firm was employed at Harewood House, Farnley Hall and Rudding Park, all in Yorkshire, and from around 1830 adopted a policy of labelling their furniture. The firm was taken over in 1863 by Marsh and Jones.
