The present work will be included in Dr. Wendy Baron's forthcoming monograph to be published by Yale in the autumn of 2006, Sickert: Paintings & Drawings, listed under catalogue number 250.

Lot Essay

The likely sitter of Le Collier de Perles is Mrs Barrett, wearing imitation beads, who was painted by Sickert on a number of occasions and is said to have been his charlady. Pickvance assumed it to be a Venetian work of circa 1904.
