Arthur Bliss's Miracle in the Gorbals was first produced by the Sadler's Wells Ballet at the Prince's Theatre, London on 26 October 1944. It was conducted by Constant Lambert, and designed by Edward Burra. Robert Helpmann was the choreographer and took the leading role of the stranger, with Moyra Fraser (later well-known as Moira Shearer) as the woman.
