Going to church on a cold and frosty morning
signed with a fly (lower right); signed again, inscribed and dated 'Going to Church on a Cold and Frosty Evening./and the Bells rang out across the square/and the Full Moon made the frost sparkle/on the Roof Tops. Soon it will be Christmas/and everyone is looking forward to/singing some Carols. Father and Mother (in her new/white hat) are going to hurry to speak to Alice Ann/with her new Husband and his four little boys &/Mother whispered to Father "just look how she's smartened Jim/Wilson up & while Maria was alive he used to look/lost". Mrs Maitland & Emily are crossing over to/walk along with Aunt Frances. Aunt Charlotte turns/back to meet Miss Carter (who wore Pink) and/Mr Taylor (the Bank Manager) and the year was 1907/Helen Layfield Bradley 1969' (on a label attached to the reverse)
