Lot Essay

The present work was commissioned by the Zoological Society of London. Frink had moved to the south of France in 1967 to live near the Camargue, and it was here that she was able to study the wild boars which hunted in the woods at night. She was attracted by the combination of their sculptural and emblematic qualities and in the following three years made a series of bronze studies of the animal.
