A RARE JEROBOAM OF THE GREAT 1978 CLOS DE LA ROCHE DIRECT FROM DOMAINE DUJAC

DOMAINE DUJAC

For three decades one of the most highly respected Domaines of the Côte de Nuits, this estate is known for its perfumed, silky, elegant style. Structure and body never overpower the rich intensity of fruit. Owner Jacques Seysses only produces 12-15 Jeroboams of each Grand Cru in the best vintages, so this is exceptionally rare. A.H.

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru--Vintage 1978
Côte de Nuits. Domaine-bottled: Dujac
New Domaine labels. Level 6cms below base of cork
Tasting note: Superb. First noted in 1995, dining at Le Montrachet in New York: fabulous, surging bouquet, sweet, fragrant with matching flavour. Perfect weight and acidity. Most recently: medium-deep, mature; scented 'beetroot' Pinot, glorious fragrance; lovely flavour, touch of leaness and quite a tannic bite. M.B.
