Tasting Note: "Thursday evening, at the home of Todd Halpern (a.k.a. The Canuck Wine King) an invitation-only gathering took place where a plethora of mindboggling bottles were opened. Maison Leroy's 1962 La Romanée is an exceptional bottle of wine. While the robe was difficult to see given the lighting conditions, its spectacular aromas of spices, red fruits, cinnamon, juniper, and hints of undergrowth beguiled me. Exhibiting a texture as silky as an Hermes scarf, this shockingly youthful wine regaled the palate with a myriad red fruits intermingled with mulling spices. Give its copious fruit, lively personality, bright flavors, and prolonged, seamless finish, it is obvious that this 43-year old La Romanée's provenance is impeccable."
