Le Pin collection - 24 vintages
A uniquely enticing opportunity
Here is an unheard-of opportunity to acquire a full collection of Le Pin vintages, going right back to its first year, 1979.
One bottle has been put to one side every vintage by Le Pin's owner Jacques Thienpont, as a present for his godson, who is now consigning them for sale. The wines have never moved from the cellars of Le Pin, until collection for shipment prior to this sale. Their condition and provenance are therefore immaculate, and without parallel. We believe that a Le Pin collection of this breadth, provenance and superlative condition will never be offered again.
About half the collection has now reached full maturity. The 1979, for instance, is drinking perfectly well, while the 1981 is absolutely ready and delicious, so Fiona Thienpont MW, Jacques's wife, informs me. I can personally vouch for the 1986, which is still exotic and silkily-textured. Vintages from 1995 onwards will make fascinating, spectacular drinking over the next decade, and well beyond.
Several of the vintages forming this Lot - for instance the legendary 1982 - were the last bottles remaining under the family's guardianship at the property. This is truly a First and Last Chance.
