Lot Essay

Previously identified as Ulisse Severino da Cingoli, this artist was recognized to be Gherardo Cibo by Arnold Nesselrath in 1989. Cibo, from a Genoese family, travelled extensively, was a botanist and composer, in particular writing for the flute.
