NELSON, Horatio, Viscount (1758-1805). Autograph letter signed (Nelson & Bronte') to Robert Brent, Merton, 21 January 1802, half page, 4to (some weaknesses to folds, laid onto archival backing paper); detached autograph address leaf (also laid down) with franking signature ('N & B').
Nelson promises his help: prompted by a letter from Brent and the return undelivered of one of his own letters, Nelson promises on his next visit to London to 'see not only Nepean but either Mr Vansittart or Addington Secretarys in whose gifts these things Nepean says are. Nothing shall be wanting on my part'.
Nelson refers to Sir Evan Nepean, 1st Bart, secretary to the Admiralty, Nicholas Vansittart, 1st Baron Bexley, joint secretary of the Treasury, and Henry Addington, 1st Viscount Sidmouth, prime minister. (2)
