Tiepolo executed two major series of caricatures of this kind. This and the following lot are probably from the Valmarana album, while others, from the Kay album, were sold at Christie's, London, 9 April 1943, part of lots 243-50, and more recently at Christie's New York, 30 January 1997, lot 79. Also comparable to a drawing sold at Christie's London, 14 April 1992, lot 140.
