Lot Essay

Parrott is best known for his brightly coloured and lively depictions of Paris and Naples. In this picture he has chosen a subject closer to home: the lower reaches of the River Brent, where it joins the tidal River Thames near Brentford, a mile upstream of Kew Bridge.
