Lot Essay

(1) For the Mascarade du Roi de la Chine performed for King Louis XIV in Marly in 1700, on the music composed by Philidor l'an. Five related drawings were in the group of Berain sold in Paris, 16 April 1982, lots 46-50, illustrated.
