A Gilt metal make-up case, 20th Century, rectangular, with engine-turned reeded panels, the cover with applied initials JH, the interior cover fitted with a mirror, the base fitted with compartments, enclosing a mirror and rouge case, with fitted suede pouches, each engraved Jean Harlow, the mirror and rouge case marked 14K, the case apparently unmarked -- 6 1/8in. (15.5 cm.) long

Lot Essay

According to the vendor, this compact belonged to Jean Harlow - it was left to her by her Great Uncle who knew Harlow when he worked at the Hal Roach Studios in the 1930s.
