The handling of the trees and buildings in the present drawing is typical of Waterloo. The many figures in the foreground are clearly by the same hand as the landscape, though figure drawings are rare in the artist's oeuvre in such a number. They can however be compared to the few figures Waterloo included in some of his drawings, such as those sold at Christie's London, 26 March 1974, lot 2; Christie's Amsterdam, 12 November 1990, lot 88 and Sotheby's London, 6 July 1992, lot 3.
