The present drawing is comparable to one of a Boy with a Basket, in the Rijksprentenkabinett, Amsterdam, P. Schatborn, Dutch Figure Drawings from the Seventeenth Century, exhib. cat., Rijksprentenkabinet, Rijksmuseum and elsewhere, 1981, no. 15, illustrated p. 108. A comparable drawing of a boy standing was sold in these Rooms, 10 January 1990, lot 177. The hatching around the figure on the left is typical of Cornelis Bega (c.1632-1664), but his style of drawing is generaly more softer.
