Lot Essay

This drawing is a design for a tapestry border. A design for the right side of a tapestry border, of the same handling as the present drawing, was also in the Delacre collection, J. Jordaens, op. cit., A. 113, fig. 124b. Both drawings are dated by Roger d'Hulst to the early 1630s.
