A Chinese Famille rose vase section, Qianlong
of waisted form enamelled with tiers of stylised lotus flowers on a pink scrolling scraffiato ground, applied with twin gilt elephant head handles to the sides, surmounted by a compressed globular top section painted with dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls on a bright yellow ground, the interior glazed turquoise -- 11½in. (29.2cm.) high.

Lot Essay

This section was manufactured separately and would have formed the top neck section of a massive baluster vase, possibly a revolving vase. The fine quality of the painting and moulding would indicate that this was almost certainly an Imperial vase.
