A Chinese blue and white 'Kraak' kendi, circa 1640-45
painted around the body with four panels enclosing flowering branches and another beneath the bulbous spout with a ribboned ruyi, with panels enclosing palmetts around the shoulder and stiff leaves around the slightly waisted and tapering neck rising to the compressed garlic-head mouth -- 7 7/8in. (20cm.) high
