AN IMPORTANT PEARL SAUTOIR
Comprising one hundred and nineteen graduated pearls measuring 11.3 to 6.4 mm. diameter with imitation pearl spacers, to the cushion-shaped sapphire and old-cut diamond cluster clasp, circa 1850, 54.2 cm. long
Accompanied by report No. 979474 dated 18 January 2006 from the Precious Stone Laboratory, London, stating that the 119 pearls were found to be natural
Provenance
By family tradition, formerly in the collection of Empress Eugenie (1826-1920), and given to her direct descendant

Lot Essay

Having previously been in the collection of Empress Eugenie, these important pearls were passed down through several generations of the family. In 1921, they were restrung by Chaumet to be worn at the wedding of a family member at which time small imitation pearls were strung between the larger natural pearls
