Desert Sagebrush

Having received early training at the Art Student's League in New York and in Paris and receiving instruction from leading artists of the day, including William Merritt Chase and James McNeill Whistler, Alson Skinner Clark eventually returned to the United States after several years abroad and settled in Pasadena, California. Clark frequently painted with contemporaries Lawton Parker and Guy Rose and became one the earliest leaders of California Impressionism.
