[JACKSON, Andrew]. [WEST, William Edward, artist]. Battle of New Orleans and death of General Packenham. On the 8th of January 1815. Philadelphia: Y. Saurman, Published and Sold by J. Yeager, [1815 or later].
1 p., oblong (18 x 22¾ in.), engraving on heavy wove paper, small clean tear in bottom margin just crossing platemark. Apparently a late state of this highly popular print (one British officer holds his hand to his face, pointing skyward, without handkerchief; alphabetical key added on the bottom left and right, identifying individuals). A very crisp impression, engraved by Joseph Yeager, a noted Philadelphia engraver. The view depicted is from the British lines as they assault the American entrenchments; it has a decidedly primitive, folk-art quality.
