LISZT, Franz (1811-1886). Autograph letter signed ('F. Liszt') to an unidentified correspondent [Baron Nicholas von Gutmansthal], Nicolaiev, 5 September 1847 (without superscription and possibly lacking opening pages), in French, concerning the arrangements for a package of letters which 'Pour ne pas ruiner le gouvernement' he is entrusting to Mr Stiffel, on his plans for the coming days ('Mon concert aura lieu ce soir (vendredi) ... Samedi matin je partirai pour Elisabethgrad'), and asks him to to recall Liszt to the 'bienveillant souvenir' of 'Madame de Gutmansthal', referring to the presentation of a manuscript of 'Du bist wie eine Blume', and sending regards to Princess Dolgorouki and other acquaintances, 4 pages, 8vo;
[with] the printed programme for a 'Soirée de Musiqe Classique' by Liszt at the Hotel Richelieu, 25 August 1847, comprising five pieces, by Beethoven, Handel, Bach, Hummel and an arrangement by Liszt of Beethoven's 'Adélaide', one printed page on a bifolium, the inner leaves annotated with doodles, including the text of Heine's 'Du bist wie eine Blume'.
