BRAHMS, Johannes (1833-1897). Autograph postcard signed ('J. Br.') to Fritz Simrock, Vienna, 28 December 1873, thanking him for a parcel of goodies 'from the Rhine and from Havanna' [i.e. wine and cigars], which will be gratefully enjoyed, and asking him to send four copies of the piano 4-hand arrangement of a quartet [the op.51 no.1 string quartet], adding that he will devote 'one of these fine evenings' to further work on the other quartet 'with a Kosakenberger' [a Rhine wine], one page, oblong 8vo (yellowed).
Brahms's Kosakenberger-aided work was to result in the publication of the 4-hand version of the op.51 no.2 String Quartet early in 1874.
