Probably Mid-Atlantic States, dated 1800
Worked in cream, pink, green, mustard, brown and black silk threads on a linen ground in five alphabetical and numeric registers in various stitches including Queen's, satin and cross, above a horizontal verse inscribed, "This Work In Hand My Friends We Have/When I Am Dead And Laid in The Grave/And All My Bones Is rot/When this you see remember me Lesst [sic] I should [sic] Be forgot/SOPHie CurGie Her Work Done B(-)/Her In The 16th year oF her AGe 1800" over two pots issuing flowers flanking a flowering tulip tree, the whole enclosed in a border of a meandering vine and flowers
