Lot Essay

Wool and cotton Tabriz pile carpets are among the rarest and most refined weavings from the 19th century Persian revival period. The natural, subdued coloration is reminiscent of the so-called Polonaise carpets from the Safavid period. There is an exquisite contrast between the gold tonalities and the undyed, natural cotton pile creating a carpet of great understated elegance.
