5 of 5 picture cards, hand colored copper engravings mounted on board. The five cards are Bell, Hammer, Bell & Hammer, Inn, and White Horse, the card images are derived from German dramas, "Fridolin" by Schiller, "Eleanor" by Burger, and "Entfuhrung" by Kleist and Burger, plus the cards are embellished with the Harlequin wielding a bat, and Pierrot as a white clown. The game is played with eight special dice, each die having five blank sides and one side numbered 1 to 6, plus Hammer and Bell (dice not included), each player starts with 36 counters, players bid to purchase each picture card in exchange for counters which are added to the game pool, thereafter, each player rolls the dice and payments are made depending upon who owns which picture card, for example, if the dice rolled are all blanks, players pay one counter to the owner of the White Horse, if the Bell, Hammer, or Bell & Hammer appear and other dice are blank, the owners of the corresponding cards pay one counter to the owner of the White Horse. Includes folder of rules. Backs plain brown. Size 3 5/8 in. (9.2 cm) high, 4 1/2 in. (11.2 cm) wide. Slightly worn.
