L'avers orné au centre d'une scène de personnages dans un décor de pavillons ouverts et terrasses arborées, au centre un haut dignitaire assis sous un auvent soutenu par des colonnes peintes de dragons, admirant des danseuses, accompagnées de musiciennes et suivantes, d'autres groupes de personnages et enfants jouant au jeu de go, se promenant, regardant des combats de coqs, jouant de la musique, gardant des chevaux (...), le pourtour rehaussé de quatre dragons sur les deux extrémités, d'objets mobiliers, précieux et emblèmes sur la partie supérieure et de cartouches d'animaux fabuleux sur la section inférieure, le revers portant une longue inscription incisée et dorée, encadrée par une frise de chilong, le pourtour agrémenté de bouquets fleuris et objets mobiliers ; petites restaurations, les pieds manquants

From the text on the reverse side of the screen, we learn that it was meant to be offered to Mr Deng for his 70th birthday by Liao Chang-Ling, imperial supervisor and official in charge of the imperial cereal stores in Tong Zhou city. Mr Liao was also a colleague of Mr Deng's son. The screen was offered during the Spring of the 'Gengchen year' of Kangxi reign which corresponds to 1700.
Apart from these specific informations, the rest of the text is a formal praise to Mr Deng.
