A bowl of this decoration and with a Chenghua mark in a double square was included in the exhibition Ch'ing Polychrome Porcelain, Hong Kong Oriental Ceramic Society, Hong Kong 1977, cat.no.57
See two doucai winecups decorated with butterflies, plants and rocks from the Chenghua period, illustrated in Porcelains in Polychrome and Contrasting Colours - The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong 1999, p.198, pl.180; and in A Legacy of Chenghua - imperial porcelain of the Chenghua reign excavated from Zhushan, Jingdezhen, The Tsui Museum of Art, Hong Kong 1993, pp.272-273, pl.C92. This later being very close to the present lot.
