The chair with spade feet is closely related to a pair of side chairs that were part of the original furnishings of the Morris Jumel Mansion. Owned by Mrs. J. Amory Haskell, these chairs were exhibited in the Girl Scout Catalogue (Loan Exhibition of Eighteenth and Early Nineteenth Century Furniture and Glass, American Art Galleries, New York, 1929), no.697.
