La bordure incrustée de motifs géométriques dorés, l'intérieur du plat à décor or et argent, incisé et en relief, de Gyoran Kannon montée sur une carpe, dans des flots tourmentés d'où émergent deux Oni, l'un avec une canne agrémentée d'une calebasse, l'autre tenant un paquet dans ses mains, signé Miyao dans un cartouche incisé doré

Lot Essay

Gyoran Kannon is supposed to be the Bodhisattva of fishes and aquatic creatures. Hokusai (1760-1849) painted this Kannon in his famous Manga in a very similar way. This subject was also used very often in Kakemono paintings.
