A LARGE EDWARDIAN ART NOUVEAU SILVER CATTLE SHOW PRIZE CUP,
MARK OF ELKINGTON & CO., BIRMINGHAM, 1906,
Of campana shape, part-fluted, on large pedestal foot with applied drop motifs all around above a band of stylised flowers, trifurcated, foliate-embellished handles, the sides applied with bacchanal heads linked by floral swags, swirling Art Nouveau flowers around the upper rim, the plain pedestal cover with fluted dome beneath a large cow finial secured by 4 straps, inscribed "Birmingham Cattle Show, The Birmingham Daily Post Challenge Cup" & additionally inscribed with the names of the winners & their owners between 1906 & 1933, 20¾ in. high (53 cm.), 159 oz.
