A LARGE VICTORIAN SILVER AGRICULTURAL/CATTLE BREEDING PRIZE CUP,
MARK OF FREDERICK ELKINGTON, BIRMINGHAM, 1878,
On trumpet foot with egg & dart border & floral-chased knop, the leaf-capped scroll handles terminating in a flower, the body with frieze of roses, thistles & shamrocks above two oval cartouches flanked by cereals & fruiting vines, one chased in relief with 3 bulls, the other vacant, the domed cover heavily chased with fruiting vines & surmounted by a large bull finial upon a pedestal, 22¾ in. high (58 cm.), 105 oz.
