FLOWERS IN A GLASS VASE, OIL ON CANVAS, SIGNED (?), ATTRIBUTED TO FERDINAND BRUEGHEL
We are grateful to Mr. Fred Meijer for suggesting, on the basis of photographs, a tentative attribution for the present painting to Ferdinand Brueghel, son of Jan Brueghel II, who was baptised in 1637 and recorded as a painter in 1662 with his two other brothers Jan Peter and Philips. Mr Meijer notes that the present painting features the same anemone as a Garland of Flowers, signed 'HENRI FERNANDINUS BREUGHEL'.

Lot Essay

Le tableau est à rapprocher d'une Guirlande de fleurs, sur laquelle figure notamment une anémone identique, signée 'HENRI FERDINANDUS BRUEGHEL'. Il pourrait avoir été peint par le fils de Jan Brueghel le Jeune, Ferdinand, qui fut baptisé le 3 juillet 1637 et mentionné comme peintre en 1662 avec ses frères Jan Peter et Philips.
