Etabli au Maroc, Pontoy participe aux expositions du groupe des Artistes Marocains. Le souk est un sujet qu'il traite souvent, notamment en gravure dans son ouvrage intitulé "Intérieur des souks de Fez". On trouve une petite esquisse au crayon mine sur le verso de cette oeuvre.
