The oval padded back, arms and bow-fronted seat covered in close-nailed cream silk with stitched pattern, on turned tapering spirally-fluted legs, the seat rail stamped A GAILLIARD

Lot Essay

Antoine Gailliard maítre on 19 September 1781.
Gailliard was a cabinetmaker in Paris through the last quarter of the 18th century untill the last years of the Empire. He worked mainly in Louis XVI style and was especially known for his fine chairs and fauteuils, for which he recieved numerous prestigeous assignments.
