The inscription can be translated:

This brick was made in the reign of the Han Emperor Wu,
Submerged in dust and earth for three thousand years.
The characters Gan lu still legible after all that's passed,
It was found from a remote path on the Yan mountain.
Washing away the dirt and preserving its fine material,
I ordered a craftsman to make it into a round inkstone.
Its appearance righteous, it contains wisdom.
Full of inspiration, my brush creates cloud and smoke.

Ganlu ernian, the second year of Ganlu, corresponds to AD257

This inkstone was inscribed by Wang Yingshou (1788-1841), who was a native of Taicang in Jiangsu Province, and was the descendent of Wang Yuanqi, the famous early Qing painter. He was versed in seal-script carving and an expert on inkstones, especially that of the Han dynasty.
