QIANLONG (1736-95)
Inlaid on top of the blue-painted ground with two phoenix beside a gnarled blossoming prunus tree, surrounded by various other birds, some perched on the tree, some in flight and some resting on lapis-lazuli rockwork, amongst flowering plants and lingzhi made of coral and kingfisher feather, each of the birds finely painted with details of feathers, tails and eyes, the frame finely carved with a wan diaper ground and previously with bat-shaped inlays, the gilt-bronze hanging bracket of ruyi shape cast with three linked bats
