A dish of the same size, shape and bearing the same decoration was excavated from the Yongle stratum of the imperial kilns at Jingdezhen in 1994; see Imperial Hongwu and Yongle Porcelain excavated at Jingdezhen, Chang Foundation, Taipei, pp.152-3, no. 44. Compare smaller bracket-lobed dishes dating to the Yongle reign with a similar design, but with individual scrolling floral elements in the lobe of the well, as exemplified by the dish in the Palace Museum Collection, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Blue and White Porcelain with Underglaze Red (1), p. 62, no. 59.
