Of squat baluster form with a waisted neck, the main body unusually incised and painted with squirrels and birds amongst blossoming trees issuing from rockwork, above a foliate scroll above the foot rim and below bands of petal motifs to the shoulder and neck

This vase may have been made for the Indian market; the petal motifs on the neck of this vase can be seen in similar form on the exteriors of a pair of ormolu-mounted Chinese blue and white porcelain urns and covers, which was sold in these rooms, Magnificent French Furniture and Works of Art, 12 December 2002, lot 99.
